Dear Mount Joy Church of God Family,
It is with great excitement and careful planning that our church council would like to inform you that we will be resuming our physical worship service at 9AM on Sunday, June 14th.
The following safety procedures will be implemented:
- Touch-less hand sanitizer stations available
- Bulletins will be placed on the pew seats before the service where you are expected to sit
- Offering plates will be placed at the exit
- Water fountain will be unavailable – please bring your own water bottle
- Mailbox area will not be accessible
- Nursery and primary department will be closed, please bring children in the Sanctuary with you
- Cleaning of pews, restrooms, lobby, hallways, furniture will be cleaned after each service
- Doors to the church will be propped open or opened for you to avoid passing germs
What will Sunday mornings look like now?
ENTRANCE: Everyone is asked to enter through the Lobby/Drive up entrance. The Main Street Entrance will be closed. Out of respect and safety for everyone, face masks will be required to be worn in the church. Please bring your own face mask if possible. If you do not have one, a disposable one will be provided for you. Handshaking and hugging need to be replaced with other means of non-contact greetings.
SEATING: Social distancing will still be in effect. Sanctuary seating will be spaced out at a minimum of every other pew. Families are asked to sit together. Please remain in your seat once seated. Do not occupy another spot. Again – the Nursery will be closed, please bring your children into the Sanctuary with you. Think of this as an opportunity to worship ALL together as a family!
SERVICE: The service will follow our typical format, with a few adjustments. There will be no offering plate passed. Offertory plates will be placed at the back of the Sanctuary.
There will be no attendance registers, hymnals, or Bibles in the pews (minimizing people touching those items and passing along germs!)
SIGNAGE: There will be designated entrance and exit door(s). Signs will be posted for reminders.
EXITING: After the service, please wait to be dismissed by your usher/ council member, and please exit immediately. As much as we love to gather and catch up with people in the lobby, we need to exit quickly to maintain a safe environment for everyone. Please be respectful to the trustees' and the time needed to thoroughly clean the sanctuary.
SUNDAY SCHOOL: The current Zoom Sunday school class will continue to be online for now, with a new starting time of 11 AM, beginning on June 14th. The link to Sunday School is emailed out weekly.
If you are personally uncomfortable returning to worship at this time for whatever reason please understand that it is totally acceptable to wait until you are comfortable to return to worship. The sermon and announcements will continue to be posted by Sunday morning on our website at:
Remember, if you, or your children have cold symptoms, please stay home. People who are high-risk, have a fever, or have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 are asked to stay home and watch online as well.
We look forward to worshiping together soon. Let’s continue to demonstrate our mission to proclaim the gospel, seek the lost, and build up the believer.
If you have any questions, please contact a member of the council.
